This past weekend we were lucky enough to have Zach's parents, Jason, Kristen and Koda visit us! With it being so close to Ryan's first birthday, we decided to have a little family celebration on Saturday afternoon complete with presents and cupcakes! Ryan wasn't quite sure what to do with all the attention and he wanted to spend way too much time playing with each present he opened. We ended up opening most of the presents for him. It was so fun to have family in town and it was great practice for Ryan's actual brithday in just a few weeks. (Although there will be less presents...)
It took a little while, but by the end of the weekend Koda and Ryan were great friends. My favorite Koda-Ryan moment was when Ryan kept trying to crawl between Koda's legs. She is such a patient dog and we are so excited that Ryan likes big dogs. There may be a puppy in our future sooner than we thought!
Grammie Pam and Ryan became good friends too! Ryan loves books and he loves his Grammie Pam so I entitle this picture "Love."
Here's Ryan opening one of his many presents from Grandma and Grandpa. He got really spoiled this weekend.
Zach had to help open a few of the presents. It took a little convincing to get Ryan to move on from the last present he opened to the next present that needed to be unwrapped.
I tried to get more pictures of Ryan opening presents but he couldn't leave the camera alone. Everytime he would see the flash go off he would crawl over and try to grab it out of my hands.
Ryan got some new summer PJs that he is excited about. In case you couldn't tell.
Because of the camera grabbing I was forced to take pictures from afar.
Kristen and Jason were good sports and acted entertained for the present opening. We were so happy to have them here! They drove six hours from Utah and arrived in Vegas at 5:00am Saturday morning. Just in time to leave for the 6:30am tee time that Doug and Zach set up. What troopers! Thanks guys!
Ryan loves his toy lawn mower. Unfortunately, it sings the loudest, weirdest songs when he pushes it. It will take some getting used to, but hopefully it will instill a love of lawn mowing in Ryan that will last for years to come...
It's not a party unless you have hats. And you can't have hats without party blowers!
Ryan LOVED the cupcake. He ate the frosting first. A boy after my own heart. When we were kids, I would give my brother all my cake and he would give me all his frosting. He would eat just cake and I would eat just frosting. It was a beautiful relationship if you ask me.
The whole group chowin' down. What's up with brithday hats? They are so weird. Don't you think?!
Praising the cake gods. He finished every crumb. Except for the crumbs that we found in his hair and down his shirt and between his fingers and stuck to his legs...
Jason and Kristen headed home on Sunday afternoon and we were sad to see them leave. Doug went home on Sunday morning and Pam is here until tomorrow morning. It was super fun to get together but we missed Ky, Geoff and Logan a ton! Hopefully we can get the WHOLE family together soon!Merry Unbirthday Ryan boy! We love you!

I bet little Ryan was spoiled with tons of presents :) What fun! Good idea to do the birthday party with the family in town. Um, mike is slightly offended that he didn't know Jason was in town. What's the deal?!
So cute! I love the hats. You guys look like you should be in some family magazine in that first photo.
